ABL HOSTS STUDENTS OF THE ELECTRICAL & MECHANICAL ENGINEERS TECHNICAL TRAINING SCHOOL FOR INDUSTRIAL VISIT

30th October, 2018

Accra Brewery Limited (ABL), a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer, has hosted students of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Technical Training School (EMETTS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) as part of its commitment to investing in a Growing World.

EMETTS trains personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces in automobile engineering, refrigeration, and air-conditioning engineering

ABL’s Director of Legal & Corporate Affairs, Ms. Adwoa Aaba Arthur, who welcomed the students, stated that “as a proud part of the ABInBev family, we seek to be recognized as a company that motivates and supports colleagues and partners across the country”.

She further mentioned that “ABL is excited to share current innovations relevant to your field of expertise as we continue to invest in a Growing World where everyone has the opportunity to improve their livelihood.”

Grain to Glass Tutorial

During the tour, the students learnt about the importance of refrigeration to brew our beer.

Mr. Wisdom Kofigah, ABL’s Quality Assurance Manager, mentioned that “refrigeration plays a critical role by impacting the quality of the beer such as its colour, taste, and haze”.

In addition, he added that “refrigeration helps control the activity of yeast, a key ingredient which ferments beer. Refrigeration also enables us to cool beer and settle yeast for easy filtration”.

Packaging our Beer

ABL’s Quality Specialist, Mr. Bernard Adzomadi, introduced the students to our beverage packaging process.

Mr. Adzomadi explained that the process begins with the un-packer which unpacks bottles and crates for washing.

He shared with the engineering students that after the bottles have been thoroughly washed; they go through a series of processes such as the Empty Bottle Inspector (EBI), which checks for flawed bottles. The bottles are approved by the EBI, filled with beer from the Filler Bowl, and then sealed with crown corks.

The filled bottles go through several quality checks, before they are packaged and distributed nationwide.

Gratitude to ABL

Mr. Kofi Odoi-Danquah, Head of the Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineering Department at EMETTS, expressed his profound gratitude on behalf of his students, to the Management of ABL for hosting them.

Mr. Odoi-Danquah also stated that “I was generally impressed with the tour and ABL’s operations which can be compared to international standards”.

A Better World

In addition to our investment in a Growing World, we also invest in a Cleaner World where our natural resources are shared and preserved for the future; and in a Healthier World where every experience with beer is positive.
