ABL CELEBRATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY AS WE “BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION”

5th June, 2018

Accra Brewery Limited (ABL) in commemoration of World Environment Day organised a clean-up exercise at Graphic Road in Adabraka, to clear the surrounding communities of plastic waste.

This exercise formed part of our investment in a Cleaner World where natural resources are shared and preserved for the future, and also in line with the global theme of “Beat Plastic Pollution”.

ABL’s Country Director, Mr. Philip Redman, stated that “as a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev (ABInBev), the world’s largest brewer, we are committed by our 2025 Sustainability Goals to safeguard the future of the Earth for the next 100+ years”.

In addition, he mentioned that “our company theme this year of ‘Sustainability is our Business’ depicts our goal of achieving 100 per cent success rates across all our Sustainability Goals on Water Stewardship, Smart Agriculture, Climate Action, and Circular Packaging”.

As a business, our Water Stewardship goal will enable us improve water access and quality for people in high stress communities. With our Smart Agriculture goal, our direct farmers would be financially empowered through initiatives implemented to improve their livelihoods.

To achieve our Climate Action goal, we are also gradually installing solar panelling throughout the business in order to reduce the use of power through the national grid. Our focus on Circular Packaging will ensure that 100 per cent of our packaged products are returnable or recyclable to reduce our waste to landfill.

Mr. Redman commended our dedicated employees and volunteers for participating in the clean-up exercise. He mentioned that “it is our hope that our 2025 Sustainability Goals will inspire others to collaborate with us and join us on this journey to provide viable solutions towards environmental pollution”.

In addition, the Adabraka Atukpai Mantse, Nii Tetteh Adjabeng II, expressed his immense gratitude to ABL for engaging members of the community in the clean-up exercise and he congratulated Management for its commitment towards sustaining the environment.

The Adabraka Mantse stated that “today’s exercise was a success and we are glad to have been part of it, especially since the exercise resonates with my monthly sanitation drive to clean up Adabraka”.

Also, as part of our Cleaner World initiatives, ABL also invests in a Growing World where everyone has the opportunity to improve their livelihood; and a Healthier World where every experience with beer is positive.
